Current Exhibition

Manichaus (pronounced: manic house), will be presenting a solo show by Javier
Maldonado from August 8 to 22, 2008. A reception will be held from 7 p.m. to
10 p.m. on August 8, 2008. The artist will present an informal talk at 8:00
p.m. Manichaus is located at 1301-B, North Main Street in McAllen. Admission
is free.
We all notice little things on a daily basis. Cracks in the pavement, scratches
on furniture, and things otherwise cast off as meaningless. Maldonado encounters
the same daily interactions but has place value on them. His acrylic paintings
and studies orient themselves around three particular utility poles and birds
on wires. Almost obsessed observations in the manner of Ellsworth Kelly, Maldonado’s
musings bring out the beauty in such omnipresent totems of modern society. This
will be Maldonado’s first solo show. Our last exhibit of the summer should
not be missed!
Gallery summer hours are: Monday through Friday, 12 Noon to 6pm; and Saturdays
by appointment. Please call 956-207-0940 or e-mail: manichaus@gmail.com for
more information.
